Nigerian footballer, Prince Hadedeji Mayungbe, has disclosed that his ultimate aim as a footballer is to get better in the game and enjoy himself on the field of play.
Hadedeji’s journey to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. From his humble beginnings to his current status as the fans favourite, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to rise to the challenge.
The 32 year old forward, who currently plays for German League side TSV ROHR FC, in a media chat disclosed that his football journey started from the streets, from where it became a passion worth pursuing.
“Football is ingrained in our culture. Growing up, I played on streets, sandy fields, anywhere there was space. Looking back, it was all worth it. Becoming a footballer isn’t easy. There were trials, sacrifices, days I couldn’t afford to train. It was tough.” And, in his words, “that has toughened me and prepared me for today and my future.”
“I never really planned if I was going to make a career out of it or not, all I thought about was just football and whatever it brings and I’m grateful for what it has brought me and what it will bring in the future.” He said.
Hadedeji added that his decision to be a striker stems from his skill set.
“There are skills based on your role, I have an eye for goal, and I know how to get into goal scoring positions.”
On having a role model in football, He said he enjoyed watching Zlatan Ibrahimovic, because of the joy he brings to the game, but he can’t really refer to him as his role model, because there are different players who bring different dimensions to the game.
Hadedeji, has had a good start to his career in Germany, having Played six games and scoring seven goals so far.
