LAGOS – Thousands of students of the Lagos State University on Monday, 22nd January 2024, acquired strategies to get and retain work and make meaningful contributions to society through entrepreneurship.
The opportunity was afforded the varsity’s world- class students during the Navigate Career And Entrepreneurial Seminar 2024, which held simultaneously at the Buba Marwa Auditorium and the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre, Main Campus, Ojo.
The programme, organised by the Lagos State University in partnership with Xcel Talents Nigeria and Blackskill Limited, featured several lectures delivered by renowned speakers to set them on the path to employability and entrepreneurship to make them valuable members of the global society.


Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, said the university keyed into the initiative of the Navigate Career and Entrepreneurship Seminar to give the students an edge in life after school.

“For us as a university, education goes beyond the four walls of the classroom. It is the skills that we impart to our students to help them live meaningful lives and add value to their society.

“We also understand that the acquisition of relevant career and entrepreneurial skills by students has become, not just necessary but indispensable in the pursuit of a life of value outside the university.
“It is with this in mind that our university embraced this seminar, and I am glad you our students have embraced it too,” she said before declaring the programme open.

The Acting Dean of the Students Affairs Division, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan had earlier announced that the university would continue to encourage initiatives that support the development of the students into balanced individuals capable of making positive contributions to their society.
He thanked the Xcel Talents Nigeria and Blackskill teams for making the programme a reality.
Eminent individuals who spoke at the event included the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Mr. Olusegun Mojeed; Co-Founder, Xcel Talents Limited, Dr. Sola Owoeye; Chairman CIPM, Ogun State Chapter, Engr. Seun Olabode Badiru, CEO, Blackskill Limited, Mr. Olugbenga Omojola and CEO, Leapworld Group, Dr. Funke Medun.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Seminar, Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, DVC, Administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo; Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel FANU; Bursar, Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka and the University Librarian, Dr. Omawunmi Makinde also graced the occasion, alongside other senior officials of the university.
The Navigate Career and Entrepreneurship Seminar was a precursor for the Light Up LASU Revival that holds on Today, 23rd January 2024, at the Sports Complex of the university.
