BENIN  – The National Directorate of Employment, NDE, on Friday flagged off a three month training programme for 110 participants in Edo state under the Special Public Works department of the Directorate. 

The programme, according to the Edo State Coordinator, Mr. James Ikhanoba who represented NDE Director General, DG, His Excellency, Silas Ali Agara, is being carried out under the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative Phase 2 (RHEI2) of the Federal Government. 

The State Coordinator, Mr James Ikhanoba who disclosed this, in his address at the orientation ceremony for the 110 participants in Benin city on Friday, said the beneficiaries will be trained in four different vocations. 

The four vocations, he said, include, Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS), Solar Energy Training Scheme (SETS), Artisans In Collaborative Construction Employment Scheme (ACCES) And Graduate Attachment Programme (GAP) of the Special Public Works (SPW) Department 

Ikhanoba, pointed out that the four (4) training schemes are labour-based and of transient nature with a training duration of three (3) months (i.e. September — December, 2025). 

According to him, In retrospect, you may be aware that the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) was created by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) to combat massive unemployment and create employment opportunities for persons of differing class which cuts across age bracket, educational background, religious belief, social Status. 

“In order to achieve this worthwhile mandate, the Directorate executes a wide-range of schemes whereof the EBTS, SETS, ACCES & GAP forms a sub-set. 

“Moreover, as you all have been given the liberty to choose your desired lines of enterprise from the available list of trades/skills set, I will admonish you to be of good character at your places of apprenticeship and internship under your master Trainers and prospective Employers respectively.
