The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has announced that it has disbursed a total of ₦392,876,550 in student loans to Delta State University, Abraka.

A statement by NELFUND on its official X account on Sunday explained that the funding will benefit 1,854 students, providing critical financial support to alleviate challenges and allow them to focus on their academic pursuits.

“Delta State University has received a students’ loan disbursement from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) totalling ₦392,876,550.00.

“Number of Beneficiaries: 1,854 students.

“This will alleviate financial challenges and support students’ academic pursuits”, the statement read.

In an official letter (shared by NELFUND alongside its Sunday statement) to the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND, titled ‘Acknowledgement of Students’ Loan Disbursement’, the Registrar of DELSU, Mrs Rufina Ofio, expressed the university’s gratitude for the support.

“On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel O. Asagba, I formally acknowledge the receipt of the students’ loan disbursement from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

“This funding, received on 13th January 2026, supports 1,854 students and totals ₦392,876,550.00.

“This assistance will significantly alleviate the financial challenges faced by the beneficiaries, allowing them to concentrate on their studies.

“We commend NELFUND for its dedication to improving access to education in Nigeria. We sincerely appreciate this support and look forward to continuing our collaboration towards the enhancement of educational development.”
