NEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Flood, Bandits’ Victims In Niger

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Minna Operations Office, has distributed relief materials to communities affected by flood disasters and banditry attacks in Kontagora, Mariga, Mashegu, and Wushishi Federal Constituency of Niger State.
The distribution exercise, conducted on February 21, 2026, was aimed at cushioning the hardship of affected households and supporting early recovery efforts. The intervention followed devastating incidents that disrupted livelihoods across several communities within the constituency.
This was made public by NEMA on its verified X handle on 23 February 2026.
The exercise was carried out under the supervision of the Head of Operations, NEMA Minna Operations Office, Mr Hussaini Isah, who deployed a team of staff to oversee the distribution in Kontagora.
NEMA collaborated closely with the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), representatives of the affected local government councils, and the Special Assistant to the Honourable Member representing the constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba (Mai Sola).
Security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Police Force, were also present to ensure orderly conduct of the exercise.
Representatives of the benefiting communities expressed appreciation to the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, for the timely intervention. The exercise was conducted peacefully and transparently, reaffirming NEMA’s commitment to providing humanitarian support to vulnerable populations during emergencies.
