An integrated payments and digital commerce companies, Interswitch Group, has announced the top nine finalists for the sixth edition of its renowned InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition.
A statement by the group on Thursday said that the announcement marked a significant milestone in the journey to discover and celebrate some of Nigeria’s brightest young scientific minds.
This year’s competition saw a record-breaking number of participants from across the country, as thousands of secondary school students showcased their scientific prowess, competing for a spot in the grand finale. The finalists emerged after rigorous rounds of quizzes and problem-solving tasks designed to test their knowledge and creativity in core STEM subjects.
The nine top finalists include David Babalola from Brainfield College, Salolo, Lagos; Denyefa Omare and Chidera Ejidike from St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi, Lagos; Hansel Orumah from The Ambassadors College, in Ogun State; Ndudu Ekong Henry from Pegasus High School, Eket, Akwa Ibom; David Umeojiaka and Elvis Ekwelem from Graceland International School, Rivers State; and representing Marist Brothers’ Juniorate in Abia, are Nwachukwu Ebubechukwu and Uzoma David Onyeka.
According to the statement, these students will compete in the highly anticipated grand finale, where they will tackle advanced STEM challenges to claim the ultimate title of Nigeria’s Best STEM Student. The top winners will receive scholarships, cash prizes, and other exciting rewards aimed at supporting their academic journeys.
“The first-place winner will be rewarded with a five-year tertiary scholarship, valued at N15 million, inclusive of a monthly stipend, a brand-new laptop, and the bragging rights as the best STEM student in Nigeria. second place will get a N10 million scholarship, spread over three years and a brand-new laptop. The third place will be rewarded with a N5 million scholarship spanning an entire year of university education and a brand-new laptop.
The fourth to ninth places will get impressive cash rewards for their remarkable efforts along with brand-new laptops.
