Economic activities in Kebbi state are at a standstill following nationwide National strike declared by Nigeria labour congress NLC.
Arising from their SEC meeting on Monday, the acting state Chairman of Nigeria labour congress,Alhaji Kelani Abdulwaliyu, who led the officials of labour said that, the state chapter of the union and affiliates have joined the National strike to press for workers demands which include living wage and the reverse of increased electricity tarriff.
As early as 8pm on Monday gates leading to the busy state secretariat was tightly shut by organised labour before the workers arrive,banks, hospitals, central market,courts and all other public utilities have been shut in Birnin Kebbi and environs, the strike which was described by the labour chief as total said it will continue till the National body says otherwise.
While canvassing for support from workers and members of the public mister Kelani stated the strike is in the interest of workers and the general public “i urge all to give total support for the success of the industrial action”
He commended labour affiliates for joining the struggles for workers in Nigeria and Kebbi state.
