The SouthWest Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP) has said that feedbacks from its massive campaigns indicated that the people of Ondo State were resolute to vote its candidate Agboola Ajayi in the nect week’s Governorship poll.
The Southwest Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati,in a statement said the party officials in the zone,with supports and collaboration of the Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke joined their Ondo counterparts , conducted a far reaching campaigns across the books and crannies of Ondo state where people expressed their delight to return the PDP to power .
According to Atofarati, some of the places visited were Bolorunduro, Ondo and Owo. We were at the palace of Osemawe, we were also inside the markets trying to canvass votes for the candidate, Agboola Ajayi.
“We were at the Labour House in Akure where we met with the retired permanent secretaries and directors in the state.
“The feedback has been awesome, the people of the state are resolute and they are prepared. They are determined to vote for the PDP candidate in the election.
“PDP stands a chance because its government in the past did projects that are physical and stand the test of time. It is obvious that Ondo State people are discontent with the way the All Progressives Congress governments have mismanaged the state in the last eight years. Nothing significant has been done by the sitting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
“It is not about political party, it is about people’s welfare. The state has been run aground. There is no way the people in Ondo State will continue like this, they are groaning in pains, hence their resolve for change in government and need for PDP.
“From our interactions and the feedback at the campaigns, visits to communities, palaces, markets, and groups, it is apparent that Ondo State people have been able to see that the standing projects in the state were put in place by PDP government. If you remove what PDP government did in Ondo State, you will discover that nothing in left,” Atofarati said.
Dismissing the the PDP claim, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Wale Akinlosotu, said that Governor Adeleke and the Southwest PDP were only in Ondo State for jamboree, adding, “they will return to their bases empty handed after defeat in the election”.
Akinlosotu said, “Nobody needs be told that the people of Ondo State are behind Aiyedatiwa of the APC in this election. His projects and programmes resonate with the people hence the decision to vote for him next week to continue in office so that he would deliver more life-transforming projects for the state.
“PDP is depleted in Ondo State. All the major stakeholders in the party have all joined APC. That is testament to the acceptability of Governor Aiyedatiwa in view of his purposeful leadership,” the commissioner said.
