In response to reports of theft, stealing, illegal trespassing, and burglaries on both public and private facilities, the Yobe State Police Command has launched a crackdown on the offenders in Damaturu.
Six syndicate members were arrested after Garba Ahmed, the state commissioner of police, ordered a stakeout to capture the criminals.
He stated that at 5:40pm the day before, police received a distress call from a man named Malam Musa Alhaji Audu of Nayi-Nawa ward, Damatu¬ru, who reported that suspected marauders had stolen five windshields and six tires off tricycles parked in his neighborhood.
The “A” Divisional Police Station responded quickly and arrested six suspects, according to the commissioner, who spoke through the command’s public relations officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim: Abubakar Ahmed (19) of Hausary Ward, Hassan Musa (19) of State Low Cost, Shayibu Adamu (24) of Tashan Kurma, and Ahmes Is¬mail (22) of Nayinawa ward.
The others are Gambo Daiyyabu (52) of Nayinawa ward, Bindigari Ward, and Babagana La¬wan (25) of forestry, all of whom are in Damaturu.
According to him, they were found in possession of two bicycles, one toolbox, six windshields, four crates of empty Coca-Cola bottles, and thirteen tricycle tires. He said that the suspects were assisting with the investigation and had confessed to the crime.
