The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed an online report claiming that a bank robbery took place in Port Harcourt on September 23, 2025. In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, described the report as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it. She stressed that no such incident occurred in Port Harcourt or anywhere in Rivers State .
“The fake news is clearly designed to cause unnecessary panic and fear among residents. We urge the public to disregard the report in its entirety and refrain from sharing such unverified information,” Iringe-Koko said.
She assured residents that police officers are on constant patrols to ensure safety and security across the state, while encouraging citizens to verify information from official sources before circulation.
The spokesperson further warned that individuals found spreading false reports with the intent to incite fear would face the law, advising the public to rely solely on official statements from the Police Command for credible updates.
