A member in the Federal House of Representatives representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Chukwuma Umeoji, on Thursday, became the first aspirant to purchase the All Progressives Congress N50m nomination and expression of interest forms for the Anambra State governorship election.
Although the lawmaker was not available in person, his representative picked the nomination and expression of interest forms for him at the party national secretariat in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the ruling party on its social media handle on Thursday.
The statement read, โHon. Chukwuma Michael Umeoji, an aspirant in the November 16, 2025, Anambra gubernatorial election, has become the first to obtain his nomination & expression of interest form today, at the Partyโs National Secretariat in Abuja.
โThe official presentation which was made to Hon. Umeojiโs representative, was conducted by the Partyโs National Organizing Secretary, HE. Muhammad Suleiman Argungu, and had in attendance the Directors of Election Management & Organizing, Tasiu Mohammed and Ahmed Wambai Sulaiman.โ
Umeoji was the flag bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the November 6, 2021, governorship election.
After he was selected as the candidate for governor, a party committee reportedly disqualified him from the primary election on grounds of โdefiance and insubordination to the party authorityโ and โdoubtful financial status.โ
The politician appealed the disqualification, albeit unsuccessfully.
A week before the November 6 election, Prof Charles Soludo was officially confirmed as the APGA candidate.
Umeoji was piqued by the move and was forced to dump APGA for the APC after the Independent National Electoral Commission replaced his name with Soludo as the party candidate.
