AKURE – A member of the Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Chief (Mrs) Oshunmakinwa Abosede Adesola has died.
She died on Saturday, August 31, 2024 during a brief illness.
This was disclosed by Mr. Banji Alabi Esq, Chairman, 11th Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, on Sunday in a statement made available to newsmen in Akure.
The late Mrs.Osunmakinwa Abosede Adesola, who was the Iyalaje of Gbongan land, was a member of the 11th Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
Mr. Alabi described the late Chief Mrs.Osunmakinwa Abosede Adesola as an exceptional leader and a dedicated member of the Governing Council of the institution.
According to the statement entitled: “Exit of a Political Matriarch,” Mr. Alabi writes: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the demise of an exceptional leader and a dedicated member of our 11th Governing Council, Chief (Mrs) Oshunmakinwa Abosede Adesola, the Iyalaje of Gbongan Land who died on Saturday, 31st August, 2024 after a brief illness.
“Her untimely death came as a shock and a tremendous loss to the 11th council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic community, and to me personally.
“As Chairman of the 11th Council , I enjoyed her unwavering commitment, unrelenting enthusiasm, and her passion for excellence. She was the epitome of loyalty and dedication, always ready to carry out any assignment with diligence and precision with no supervision.She was indeed a trusted ally.
“Her contributions to our council’s success were immense, and her deeds continued to inspire us. I fondly remember her remarkable work ethic, her kindness, and her generosity of spirit.
“Samuel Johnson once said, “The highest tribute to a person is to say they lived a life worthy of remembrance.” My tribute to Chief (Mrs) Oshunmakinwa is a testament of her remarkable life and legacy.
“As I received the news of her passing unto glory from her son, Tope Osunmakinwa, I was reminded of the phrase, ‘How the mighty are fallen.’ This is indeed one of the saddest moments of my life.
“Mrs Oshunmakinwa was a shining star, full of life and energy. Her exit leaves a void that can never be filled, but her good characterwill continue to motivate us to strive for excellence.
“Rest in peace, dear Chief (Mrs) Oshunmakinwa Abosede Adesola.Your name and record of impactful deeds will live on in our hearts, and your contributions will forever be remembered as a testament to living a remarkable life.”
