Nigeria union of journalists NUJ,Kebbi area Council, on Wednesday held elections in Birnin Kebbi.
The keenly contested elections was conducted following the expiration of the tenure of late Hamza Galadima Zuru and his executives who ran the union for the period permitted by the union.
At the delegates congress held at NUT house in Birnin Kebbi was hotly contested and won by Bello Sarki from Kebbi television , the Kebbi television man polled 64 votes to defeat his opponent confido who polled 30 votes and Abdullahi Musa Yalmo also a chairmanship candidate from same Kebbi television polled 20 votes.
Similarly, Junaidu Sani from equity FM polled 60 votes and emerged the financial secretary of the union defeating his opponent from NTA malam Usman who polled 50 votes, others are Abubakar Daking gari who won with 51 votes and emerged the treasurer with a narrow margin of 50 votes scored by his opponent Sani Mahuta from Kebbi radio.
The new executives were immediately sworn in with a pledge from them to reposition the state council to meet global style of journalism .
