Hoodlums mobilised by smugglers to forcefully retrieved smuggled 41 bags of parboiled rice allegedly attacked Nigeria Customs office Yauri in Kebbi state.
Officers were informed of some smuggled foreign rice at Yauri water ways, the outstation staff quickly mobilised to the scene and seized the contraband items and moved them to Yauri office.
Shortly after the operation, huge armed hoodlums attacked the office siezed 29 bags of rice one Ak rifle which was later retrieved from them after the security agencies engaged them in a gun duel.
The spokesperson of the Command, Tajudeen added that, in the process the hoodlums vandalised the car of a senior officer, smashed office and air conditioners in the office.
He explained that, some suspects are in police custody while a man hunt of the fleeing suspect has been launched by the police to bring them to book.
While, thanking the sister agencies for their support, Comptroller Earnest .O warned smugglers to stay off Kebbi or engage in lawful business that would have the backing of the customs.
