LAGOS – Clean Technology Hub has announced the inaugural Nigerian Students’ Climate Summit, set to take place in June in Abuja.
This initiative aims to accelerate climate action and empower the next generation of environmental leaders.
Clean Technology Hub is organizing the Summit in partnership with the Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation within the Federal Capital Territory Authority Education Secretariat, with generous backing from the Skoll Foundation.
The Nigerian Students’ Climate Summit is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to address the urgent challenges posed by climate change.
By bringing together young minds from all over Nigeria, the summit will facilitate a lively exchange of ideas, foster innovation, and instill a sense of shared responsibility for the future of our planet.
A key feature of the summit is the Clean Tech Innovation Challenge, which calls on students to create and present inventive solutions to real-world environmental issues. This competition offers a platform for students to showcase their creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial drive.
CEO and founder of Clean Tech, Ms Ifeoma Malo, expressed, “We strongly believe that empowering students is crucial for driving meaningful change in the battle against climate change.
“This summit is more than just an event; it is a transformative opportunity for students to gain valuable insights, connect with like-minded peers, and unlock their potential as future climate leaders. By participating in this summit, students are taking a significant stride towards shaping a sustainable future, brimming with hope and possibilities.”
The summit’s program will include distinguished experts, policymakers, and industry leaders sharing their knowledge and experiences on renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, green technology, and climate policy. Through interactive workshops, panel discussions, and hands-on activities, students will acquire practical tools and strategies to implement sustainable solutions in their communities.
Ms Malo further remarked, “The Student Climate Summit offers not only a learning experience but also a platform for students to engage with industry leaders, policymakers, and peers who share similar interests. This inclusive setting encourages innovation and collaboration, enabling participants to network, exchange ideas, and establish lasting connections.”
