The Country Manager of TechnoServe Nigeria, Adesuwa Akinboro, has restated the organisation’s commitment to supporting Nigeria to attain food and nutrition security.
She reiterated the commitment during a recent visit to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to showcase TechnoServe’s programmes and impact, particularly within Nigeria’s context.
Akinboro, who led the delegation which is part of TechnoServe’s strategic engagements with critical stakeholders in the food and nutrition security sectors in Nigeria provided a comprehensive overview of TechnoServe’s mission, past achievements, and established presence within Nigeria.
She emphasised their dedication to improving the lives and incomes of hardworking individuals in underserved areas across diverse value chains.
According to her, TechnoServe’s approach centers on assisting communities in building strong farms and businesses, ultimately offering business-oriented solutions to tackle poverty.
Speaking during the meeting, Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security spoke on government reforms to boost local production of staples and curb food inflation.
Kyari views the Micronutrient Fortification Initiative (MFI) by TechnoServe as uplifting the agricultural sector as it supports the wheat, edible oil and rice value chains.
He noted that the impact of the initiative has trickled down to supply thereby creating more businesses for farmers.
He stated that the MFI initiative is in line with the country’s food security agenda that supports boosting local production of staples and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
