LAGOS – The Global President of United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC), Amb. (Dr) Jonathan Ojadah Emmamuzo, has appointed three Nigerians as Special Advisers.
According to a statement made available to Sunday Independent, the appointees are Mr Ohi Akpengbe, the Publisher/Editor In Chief of CrimeWatch Newspaper; former Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Victor Olayiwola Owadogbon (rtd), and Mr Noble Eze Oluchukwu.
It stated that while Mr Akpengbe was appointed as the Special Adviser on Media, Mr Owadogbon was named Special Adviser on Security Affairs, and Mr Oluchukwu bagged the position of Special Adviser on Investment and Promotion.
Sunday Independent gathered that the appointments were announced on Friday, August 9, 2024, during the conferment of an award as the Grand Patron of Nigeria MiniFootball (Spartan Eagles) Association on Amb. Emmamuzo, held at his residence in Lekki Atlantic Gardens Estate, Alabeko, Lekki-Ajah.
Reacting on his appointment as UNIPGC Special Adviser on Media, Mr Akpengbe, in a chat with Sunday Independent, expressed gratitude and appreciation to God for the position, noting that his relationship with the UNIPGC Global President had spanned over a decade.
Akpengbe stated: “We have worked together and been good friends for the past 10 years and I have been in the media industry for the past 25 years, which gives me the requisite experience and knowledge to carry out my task.”
On why he appointed Akpengbe as his Special Adviser on Media, Amb Emmamuzo stated that with the demands on him as a diplomat, it became necessary to make the appointment to assist him in navigating the media space by given elaborate publicity of UNIPGC’s activities across the globe.
Akpengbe started his career in journalism with ThisDay Newspapers as a member of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) between 1999 till 2001.
He later went to England for his Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) at Manchester College of Art and Science and returned to Nigeria in 2004 to continue his professional journalism practice.
He started ‘Crime Watch Magazine’ as the Editor-in-Chief until 2008 and acquired Crime Watch Newspaper before adding the online platform, Crime Watch Online News in 2015, which have been publishing till date.
Also, Akpengbe also cut his teeth in security studies, leading to his obtaining several Diplomas in Security online from various countries.
Akpengbe, is also a media consultant to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), a position he bagged in 2015 from the Nigeria Police Force.
He stressed: “I have worked diligently with them and received several awards from the security agencies and other humanitarian awards from different government parastatals.
In attendance at the event were Dr and Mrs Ezekiel Isidahomen, Managing Director, THEMS Security Systems Limited; Kingsley Ojiaku, CEO PKJ Limited; Tammy Ogolo, Rightz Media limited and Prince Femi Adefaluyo, Legal Advisor, Osun State MiniFootball Association.
Others are Rotimi Ojo, Businessman; Fabian Edaba, Coach and Paul Ukpabio, Media/Tourism consultant; Secretary, Nigeria MiniFootball (Spartan Eagles) Association, Mr Davids Adewoye, among others.
The United Nations International Peace and Governance Council UNIPGC-AFRICA is devoted to the promotion of sustainable peace, good governance advocacy and poverty eradication, with Africa as its main focus.
