The Director General of the Jigawa State Investment Promotion Agency (InvestJigawa), Furera Isma Jumare, has commended WACOT Limited, a member of Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group, for its significant role in boosting Jigawa State’s agricultural development and Nigeria’s economy.
He gave the commendation during a visit and tour of the WACOT’s Sesame Farmers Academy in Gumel, Jigawa State.
While emphasising the Academy’s impact on both local farmers and potential investors, he said, “WACOT has become a true ambassador for the good works happening in Jigawa.
This project symbolises the sustainable growth and potential of Jigawa as an agricultural hub.
“Through WACOT’s efforts, we have seen how impactful responsible agricultural practices can be. Investors are now considering Jigawa a region with vast potential and a community where social development is prioritized.”
Sadiq Kassim, Director of Corporate Affairs at TGI Group, expressed his gratitude for the continued partnership with InvestJigawa during the visit.
He reaffirmed WACOT’s dedication to promoting sustainable agricultural practices across Jigawa and empowering farmers in the region.
“The WACOT Sesame Farmers’ Academy represents our commitment to sustainable agriculture. By equipping smallholder farmers with the skills they need, we are not only improving livelihoods but also strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global sesame market.”
Yosola Onanuga, Head of Sustainability at TGI Group, also expressed appreciation to Invest Jigawa for their continuous support.
“We are grateful to InvestJigawa for their support and partnership, which has been instrumental in the growth and success of the academy. The continued collaboration allows us to expand our efforts in building sustainable farming communities,” she said.
She pointed out that beyond its contributions to agriculture, WACOT has also improved community welfare by undertaking more than 10 development projects, including providing clean water, renovating schools, and distributing food relief during and even beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
