ABUJA – AEC Unity Network Limited, the officially recognised concessionaire for the Abuja-Lagos Super Highway and High-Speed Train projects, has vehemently refuted any affiliation with AEC-Geofocus Consortium (Geofocus) and its representatives, in response to recent erroneous assertions circulating in the media.
The company was prompted to address the assertions made by Engineer Mutiu Yinka Idris, who purported to be associated with the projects on behalf of Geofocus, a claim disseminated in various media outlets and amplified on social platforms.
In a statement penned by Ayodeji Ademola, Esq of Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN) &Co Chambers, legal counsel to AEC Unity Network Limited, the concessionaire emphasised the company’s unwavering commitment to transparency and its exclusive mandate to execute the project.
AEC Unity Network reiterated its status as the sole concessionaire authorised by the Federal Government of Nigeria to design, finance, construct, operate, and maintain the 470-kilometer superhighway and high-speed rail connecting Abuja and Lagos.
The company’s approvals have been obtained from the Federal Ministry of Works, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
The statement also identified Mr. Fisayo Ishola of FANE as one of Geofocus’s sponsors, further alleging that these individuals and entities are involved in deceptive practices to illegitimately claim credit for projects with which they have no association.
“We unequivocally declare that AEC Unity Network Limited has no ties whatsoever with Engineer Mutiu Yinka Idris, Prince Fisayo, or Geofocus,”the company affirmed. AEC Unity Network cautioned the public, especially local and foreign investors, to disregard any assertions or publications made by Geofocus or its sponsors.
“The company emphasised that its projects are still in the planning phase and that no other simultaneous developments are authorised along the Abuja-Lagos corridor.
“These assertions starkly contradict our proposed infrastructure plans and are designed to mislead unsuspecting stakeholders,”the statement concluded.
The Abuja-Lagos Super Highway and High-Speed Train projects are pivotal initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, geared towards augmenting national infrastructure and economic growth.
AEC Unity Network reiterated its dedication to transparency and professionalism, urging the public to seek information solely through its official channels for accurate updates on the projects. Stakeholders are encouraged to directly contact AEC Unity Network Limited for any further inquiries.
