***Our Position Remains Unchanged
LAGOS – The group of five governors elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) and other aggrieved party leaders have said that the group is still open to reconciliation, stressing that the position that it reached in Port Harcourt Rivers State remains unchanged.
Speaking after a closed-door in Lagos, former governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, who spoke on behalf of the group, said they are open to reconcilation.
Jang said, “After a careful review of developments in our party, we have decided to stand on the decisions we took in our Port Harcourt meeting.
“And we hereby reiterate that the window for reconcilation in our great party, PDP, remains open.”
The meeting which lasted for over three hours availed Wike and his allies the opportunity to review recent developments in the party before taking its next step.
The attendance at the meeting include Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
Others at the meeting are former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, former Cross River State Governor, Mr Donald Duke, former Plateau State Governor, Mr Jonah Jang and former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Bode George.
Also present are former Attorney-General of the federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Bello Adoke; Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Mr Taofeek Arapaja; Senator Nasif Suleiman, Hon. Nnenna Ukeje, Senator Sandy Onor, Senator Mao Ohabunwa, Dan Obih, Senator Olaka Nwogu, Senator Kamoru Adedibu and Prince Babayemi Dotun
It will be recalled that the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Wike have been at war over the continued stay of Senator Iyorcha Ayu as the National chairman of the party.
While the G5 and its supporters have continued to press for the need for the South to produce the party’s National Chairman the other group on the side of the presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and his allies do not seem to be in a hurry to see that happen, even when their chances at the polls could be impacted negatively.
