DAMATURU – In a bid to find a lasting solution to the recurring floods across Yobe State, the Director General of Yobe State Geographic Information Service (YOGIS), Associate Prof. Abdullahi, attended a stakeholders’ engagement meeting at the SSG Conference Hall, Governors Office, Damaturu.

The meeting, which is part of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration efforts to address flood incidences, demonstrated the government’s commitment to easing the suffering of communities around floodplain areas. According to the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, Governor Mai Mala has mandated his office to develop modalities to alleviate the plight of affected communities.

During the meeting, the SSG, Baba Malam Wali directed consultants to collaborate with ACReSAL and YOGIS technical teams to determine effective solutions. This move is expected to bring relief to flood-prone areas and promote sustainable development in the state.

The Yobe State Government’s proactive approach to tackling the flood menace is a welcome development, and stakeholders are optimistic about the prospects of finding a lasting solution. With the government’s commitment and the collaboration of experts, the state is poised to overcome the challenges posed by flooding.
