As part of efforts to enhance waste management and environmental sanitation, Kano State Governor Kabir Yusuf has procured 10 new heavy-duty refuse evacuation trucks and three payloader excavators.
The new equipment is aimed at improving the efficiency of refuse collection and disposal across the state, addressing long-standing waste management challenges.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the governorโs spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa.
The machines were officially presented by the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Dahir Hashim, who emphasised the governmentโs commitment to ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment.
โThe new equipment will strengthen the stateโs capacity to manage waste, reduce environmental pollution, and mitigate the effects of climate change,โ the statement read.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administrationโs dedication to sustainable environmental practices, urging residents to support government efforts by maintaining proper waste disposal habits.
โThe new machines are expected to be deployed immediately to key areas facing waste management challenges,โ the statementย added.
