A dramatic incident occurred in Ijebu Ode, where a suspected thief, identified as Jeremiah Kosesochi Nwoke, reportedly died while trying to steal the revered Agemo statue at the Itoro Roundabout.
This statue is situated near the ultramodern palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
According to an online account, the deceased made several attempts to uproot and steal the symbolic statue under the cover of darkness.
Reports indicated that although he successfully uprooted the statue, he died during the process of trying to transport it.
The incident has left residents in shock and has sparked significant discussion within the community.
Initial reports suggested that the man was unconscious, but later updates confirmed his death.
However, some sources claim that he may have been revived by the custodian of the Agemo.
