P.N.C. Menon’s life is a true story of hard work, courage, and determination. Born in Kerala, Menon faced a major challenge at just 10 years old when he lost his father. His family fell into financial trouble, and to help them, Menon had to drop out of school and work odd jobs. His dream of finishing a B.Com degree was left behind, but he never gave up hope.
In 1976, at 26 years old, Menon made a bold choice. With just Rs 50 in his pocket, he moved to Oman to try and create a better life. Despite not having formal education, Menon worked extremely hard and used his skills in interior design to start his career. He later secured a loan of Rs 3.5 lakh and set up an interior decoration company, Services and Trade Group (S&T). His dedication and attention to detail soon earned him big projects, including palaces and luxury hotels in Oman.
Inspired by his success, Menon returned to India in 1995 and started Sobha Developers in Bangalore, naming the company after his wife. His company grew fast, setting new standards for real estate in India. Today, Sobha Developers is one of the leading real estate companies in the country, with a market cap of over Rs 19,000 crore.
P.N.C. Menon’s journey from having just Rs 50 to building a massive business empire is a reminder that no matter how tough life gets, hard work and belief in yourself can take you far.
