Ogun State Police Command

…Recover Police Camouflage, Mobile Phones

The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing investigation with the arrest of two suspects in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode, who are allegedly linked to a kidnapping and murder case in the Okada area of Edo State.

The arrest followed the June 4 apprehension of the suspects by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service and subsequent investigation into their activities.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Abeokuta, saying the breakthrough followed intelligence-driven investigations by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

According to him, the suspects have been identified as Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20.

“Following extensive profiling and investigation, the suspects were identified as being wanted in connection with an ongoing kidnapping and murder case reported in the Okada area of Edo State,” Babaseyi stated.

He added that preliminary findings indicated that the suspects were members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to the crime under investigation.

During the operation, police recovered one pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects. The exhibits have been documented and secured for further investigation.

The police spokesperson noted that the offences under investigation were committed outside Ogun State.

He said, in line with inter-state policing procedures and collaboration among state commands, the suspects and recovered exhibits would be transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and intelligence-led policing approach, which led to the arrest and recovery of exhibits.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to preventing criminals from using Ogun State as a safe haven or transit point for illegal activities.

Ojajuni also assured residents that the Command would continue to deploy proactive policing strategies and strengthen inter-state collaboration to enhance public safety.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies to support the fight against crime.
