We can’t wait to see the new exhibition now on at @autographabp Autograph Art Gallery in Shoreditch, London showcasing the work of Funmilayo Abe and John Abe, a couple who ran a successful photography studio in Lagos from the 1970s to 2006 called the ‘The Abi Morocco Photos Studio’. The exhibition is curated by @lagosstudioarchives and @autographabp senior curator Bindi Vora.
We especially love the first photograph that depicts a freedom ceremony – a sort of coming out ceremony for dressmaking apprentices as explained in the 2nd & 3rd slide. Thank you to @iya_london_walks for sending these to us.
