ABUJA – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has announced the December completion of the dualisation of Kuje township road, spanning from Tipper Garage to the LEA Secretariat.

Wike made the statement following an inspection of the project in Kuje, which is being handled by Gilmor Engineering Nigeria Ltd. In response to the community’s needs, the FCT Administration extended the project from LEA Secretariat to Gwagwalada.

“The dualisation of this road in Kuje center will be completed by December,” Wike assured. “We have directed the contractor to continue the dualisation from Kuje to Gwagwalada to ease transportation difficulties for residents.”

He emphasized that the new route would reduce travel time and enhance economic growth in Kuje Area Council by streamlining the movement of goods, services, and residents between Kuje and Gwagwalada.

In addition to this, Wike reported steady progress on the six-lane carriageway from Airport Road to Kuje, managed by Arab Contractors. He commended the pace, stating, “The contractor has promised to finish all earthwork by the end of the year.”

Funding for these projects, Wike said, comes primarily from the FCT’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). Emphasizing the importance of tax compliance, he noted, “When Nigerians see that the taxes they pay are being utilized, they reciprocate by ensuring they pay their taxes.”

Wike called on Kuje residents to support the contractors for timely completion, stressing the community’s role in fostering development. “With cooperation, these projects will be completed on time, bringing economic growth and enhanced infrastructure to Kuje and beyond,” he said.
